4/2/24 Some sad and shocking news – being the church

I’m very sorry to have to tell you that our dear friend Malcolm Vincett has died.

It’s particularly shocking since, despite his struggles with arthritis, he had seemed to be in fundamentally good health.  He died on Tuesday evening, at home, with Jean – it seems it was a heart attack that came without any warning at all.

So many of us will have chatted with him only last Sunday, and he is someone we have all known and loved for at least as long as we have belonged to the church.

Husband, father, brother, Churchwarden, singer, friend.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

On Sunday we shall speak together of what it is to be the Church – the children of God, of whom Christ, the maker of all that is, visible and invisible, is the head.

One thing it certainly is, is to be there for one another, now and in the long term, and particularly for those who on whom the blow of bereavement must fall most heavily.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, and to being, together, the Church – here in good times and in bad, trusting in our Lord, Jesus Christ, in whom we have a sure and certain hope.

Come Holy Spirit, our hearts inspire!
