Sparkle is our intergenerational community centre, every Tuesday in term time from 10.30 to 2.15.
Sparkle brings older adults (we call them our Grandfriends) together with primary school children to share in activities and learn from each other. There is also a warm lunch and chair exercise for the adults. Watch this to see video what fun is had!
We are so grateful to the Sparkle team based at St Michael’s Church, Southfields, for bringing this joy to Roehampton!

Sparkle is about building relationships across generations. It helps the lonely of any age into a valued family. It can provide a break for carers. People are referred here by Wandsworth Council and through GP’s surgeries but self referrals are also very welcome. Our Grandfriends and children spend time together in a way that enriches everybody. So if you are a local parent, a school, an older person or a carer and you think Sparkle might be for you, we’d love to meet you.
For those adults* who would like to, every Sparkle session includes a thirty minute dementia friendly worship service called Sparkle Saints. Through singing, prayer, reading the Bible, some guided reflection and talking together we grow in our understanding and trust in the love of God for us, at whatever stage of our journey are find ourselves. To find out more, please get in touch with Joshua, the Vicar.
*Children are not present for the time of worship and prayer
